Mike Cassidy Circuit
Superintendent Minister
I am 60 in
September and live as though I have a body 30 years younger!
Before entering the ministry I was a warden in a probation
hostel. Prior to that I was milkman with the Co-op, and to that
a long-distance lorry driver. In 1982 I went to Wesley College
Bristol for my training to become a Methodist Minister and since
then have served in four circuits (at Luton, Felixstowe,
Nottingham and Leicester).
In September 2008 I
got married to Jane (who is also a Methodist Minister, serving
in the Croydon Circuit). My first wife, Linda, died of cancer.
Jane is an Orpington girl and has particularly enjoyed returning
to this part of south east London. Even West Wickham has a place
in her heart – thirty years ago Jane took her driving test in
West Wickham, where we now live. Between us Jane and I have five
children. My two are Marcus (34) and Rebecca (29) and Jane’s
three are Elizabeth (28), Victoria (26) and Philip (23). I also
have a grand-daughter, Meg, who is thirteen. Jane and I are both
keen caravaners.
I play squash, racquetball,
golf and five/seven-a-side soccer. I enjoy reading,
watching films and drama. I have a good sense of humour and fun.
I do most of my travelling around on my 860cc Triumph
Speedmaster motorcycle.
